If you arrived from Award Sites and not my resident website of Circus World, you will
notice I do not have an "about me" page on my awards program. Here are a few
pointers to help you understand the anatomy and physiology of this website evaluator.
Bifocals
Around this time last year, a friend stood in front of me and she was blurry.
I had to change the prescription of my glasses to include those awful bifocals with annoying lines.
This contributes to difficulties I encounter, at times, when trying to read tiny text. If font is too small or colors clash, I
must raise my head up and down to get everything aligned with my bifocals. Lifting my
head causes my neck to ache continuously.
Senility
My brain cells are deteriorating and not near the capacity of 20 years ago. I often get lost when evaluating
a submission due to poor site navigation. Please keep navigation simple so my brain can comprehend. I'm sure you would
not want me to become confused or disoriented.
Carpal Tunnel
Scrolling on a daily basis is becoming more difficult. Though not officially diagnosed as having carpal tunnel, I feel it coming on.
Vertical scrolling needs to be no more than 5 full screen lengths unless there's navigation or an "up top" link at the bottom.
Submissions are reviewed at 800 X 600 resolution so horizontal scrolling should be minimal. My wrists, hands, and fingers hurt
all the time. The popping and cracking of my bones are so loud, I can barely hear myself think.
Blood Clots
Waiting a long time for a website to load raises the risk of developing blood clots due to inactivity.
Speed is essential to keep this from happening. Keep load time to a minimum by not having a lot of
unnecessary or time consuming items on your site.
Wrinkles
Recently, while looking in a mirror, I noticed more horizontal (not scrolling) lines on my forehead
(AKA wrinkles). I can safely attribute these new ones as being caused by all the times
I crinkle my forehead when pushing my bifocals further up my nose in order to
read any small text on a submitted website. Squinting my eyes to read tiny text has made
those dreaded "crow's feet" appear.
Secretarial Spread
Secretarial spread means sitting down for a long period of time while the hind-end spreads outward
in order to accommodate the chair. It's slowly happening to me. This is another good reason to keep
load time to a minimum.
Hemorrhoids
Sitting for extended time periods also increases the chance of hemorrhoidal flare-up, and I do not keep Preparation H in my household.
Another factor to mention under this heading is constipation (mainly caused by inactivity). No laxative for me and an enema is out of the question.
Two more excellent reasons to speed up load time so I will not have to sit idle. Please keep unnecessary applets, graphics, or java scripts to a minumum.
Humpback
Slouching in my chair to read, scroll, or sit is rapidly making my shoulders rounder, and
the middle of my back is starting to stick out on its own. Pay close attention to the
points below.
Points to Ponder
~ Make sure the text is readable ~
~ Make sure the colors don't clash ~
~ Make sure scrolling is minimal ~
